Tiny Masupe

Dr. Tiny Masupe MD, MPH, MSc, is a senior lecturer and assistant programme director for Public Health Medicine at the University of Botswana (UB) in the Department of Family Medicine & Public Health, Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Masupe brings her research expertise in qualitative research methods and experience as a trainer and research mentor. She has led the training of Public Health Specialists at University of Botswana since 2013. Under her leadership of the Master of Medicine in Public Health residency programme, she has produced 10 Public Health specialists with four of those under her direct research supervision and mentorship. Additionally, she has been a co-supervisor for a mentee in MSc global health based in the UK, whose research dissertation was completed using qualitative methods. She has also carried out research using qualitative methods for master’s thesis and, currently, as part of her PhD.

She currently has three mentees undertaking their research projects using qualitative methods. In addition, she is the lead consultant for the Botswana Rutgers Partnership for Health (BRPH) providing leadership and technical expertise in qualitative methods for the Botswana comprehensive Cancer Care and Prevention Needs Assessment study and Qualitative research Consultant for Health Sciences Research study with London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE). Dr. Masupe is a Fellow of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (FISQua), a member of the UB Institutional Ethics Review Board, chairperson of the Botswana Quality and Safety of Care Technical Working Group, and a member of Fogarty Post-Doctoral Fellowship Training Advisory Committee, Johns Hopkins University.
